Title: The Allegiance
Series: WHO IS JESUS?
Author: Randy Tomko
Date:

What is your allegiance? What do you identify with the most? What shapes you and what do you present to the watching world?

What would happen if we set aside all other identities – national, racial, political, even familial – and we nurtured instead a love for Christ and His people that transcends all?

If we truly focus on our first allegiance, that of our faith in Jesus Christ, wouldn’t we be the most powerful force for healing, unification, and restoration?

13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. 14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. 15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Hebrews 11:13-16 (NLT)

12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. 13 But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:12-13 (NLT)
