Just as the spirit of God moved and brought light out of darkness to a people long ago, He still brings light to our darkness today. There is nothing so dark in your life right now that God isn’t already shining His light on it – you can count on that!
9 [a]Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.

will see a great light.

But we sometimes get so enamored of our own “brilliance” that we think we shine the light ourselves only to be plunged into bitter darkness again and again until we learn we can only accept light from the giver of light, not create it on our own.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
