Series: Seeking A Savior
Author: Randy Tomko
What are we willing to wait for anymore? Some studies show that we’re only willing to wait mere seconds before honking our horn at a driver who hasn’t noticed a green light. How much less willing are we to slow down and savor the expectation of something as monumental as the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?
The ancient prophets predicted Christ’s birth with remarkable accuracy, fulfilling the expectant hopes and dreams of a people accustomed to waiting for generations upon generations. As we consider the birth of Christ in this modern age, are we even capable of a kind of waiting that seems so out of place in our fast-paced world?
19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines[a] in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19 (NLT)
