Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
A word that often makes us think of faraway impoverished nations. But did you know that right here in Michigan there are more than 16,000 children in the foster care system? In Macomb County alone, more than 1100 orphans live without the daily support of a loving parent. They are often separated from siblings. They face the world alone, without a trusted safety net, without a home…without roots.
Here at Rockpointe we hope to change that. As a community, you each represent a member of our “family.” Regardless of the circumstance of your birth family, Rockpointe provides you with an adopted family foundation, support system and community. Rockpointe provides you with roots.
We’d like to share that.
Please join us in awareness, prayer and action to help the situations of local orphans. Whether you are an empty-nester, mid-career, raising kids already, or even a teen living at home, you can play a role. You can make an impact!
All it takes is a loving heart and generous soul.
Our Roots Ministry provides the following…
The Meals Team provides meals for foster and adoptive families when a foster child is initially placed in their home and when there is a temporary need. These families are often given very short notice and have to make many adjustments to their home life, so not having to worry about meals makes the transition a little smoother. The Meals Team also prepares and serves meals for foster care events—such as training sessions, orientations, and informational meetings.
Foster Care / Adoption
We know that one of the single most effective ways to minister grace to abandoned children is by providing them with a stable, Christ-centered, loving home environment. We also know that it requires a whole village of support for families to make this commitment! That’s where ROOTS comes in. We’ll walk through the foster care/adoption process with you, providing prayer and support along the way. When the journey is difficult, we’ll be there. When the waiting seems endless, we’ll be there. When it’s time to celebrate, we’ll be there! ROOTS is here to ensure that you will not undertake this journey alone!
Respite Care Team
The Respite Care Team’s purpose is to provide relief for foster families by helping care for their foster children. They do this by coming alongside the foster parents and forming relationships with them and their foster children. Once those relationships are secure, the Respite Care Team member can provide care when the foster family is away. The frequency of these visits is determined by the foster family’s needs and the availability of the Respite Care Team member. For those on the Respite Care Team who are not linked with a specific foster child, there will be opportunities to care for various foster children during ROOTS/RCC events.
